Due to the Emancipation Day holiday in the District of Columbia, tax day is not the April 15th this year:
If you live in Maine or Massachusetts, the Patriots' Day holiday pushes tax day to April 19th.
Every state is different, so check when your state taxes are due. File on time, even if you are not sure how you will pay your taxes. You will avoid fees and may be pleasantly surprised. The average tax refund is $2,800. Over $1 billion goes unclaimed every year!
